Pursuant to the Rules and Regulations promulgated by the Secretary of Labor, the Office of
Economic Development with the approval of the St. Lawrence County Chief Elected Official and
the Workforce Investment Board provides the following statement regarding its grants under the
Workforce Investment Act:
The St. Lawrence County Workforce Investment Board has developed its Workforce
Investment Act Local Plan Modification for Program Year 2008 – 2009 for Workforce Investment
Act Title I-B and Wagner Peyser programs to serve eligible youth, adults and dislocated workers.
Eligibility is based primarily on age (14 and up) and the economic status of St. Lawrence County
residents who apply. This Plan Modification will amend and extend both the approved Local Plan,
which originally covered the period July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2008, and the local area’s
approved Functional Alignment Addendum. Therefore, this Local Plan Modification will extend the
existing Plan and Addendum to June 30, 2009 and will become the basis for local area policy and
monitoring. Funding sources include Title I of the Workforce Investment Act and any other
incentive or discretionary grant received. Programs and services available for those who qualify
may include, but are not limited to the following: Core Services, Intensive Services, Training
Services and essential elements of Youth Development Activities.
The St. Lawrence County Workforce Investment Board has made this proposed Plan
Modification available for public comment. The public may access the proposed Plan Modification
and has 30 days in which to comment. This proposed Plan Modification is available electronically
at www.slconestop.com. All comments and the manner in which these comments are addressed will
also be posted electronically at www.slconestop.com. Interested parties may also request copies and
submit comments to Stephen House, One-Stop Manager, St. Lawrence County One-Stop Career
Center, 80 State Highway 310, Suite 8, Canton, New York 13617 for the period of 30 days
beginning March 24, 2008. The proposed Plan Modification may be reviewed between the hours of
9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 80 State Highway 310, Suite 8, Canton, New York
13617. To obtain more information or to report problems accessing the Plan Modification call
Stephen House at (315) 386-3276 ext 154. A Public Hearing will be held at 10:00 AM, April 1,
2008 in the St. Lawrence County Office of Economic Development Conference room, 80 State
Highway 310, Suite 6, Canton, New York 13617 to receive comment and input.The mission of the
