The New York State Department of Labor is New York States primary
advocate for job creation and economic growth through workforce development.
The department administers New Yorks unemployment insurance system,
labor exchange system, and Welfare-To-Work programs. The department
also oversees state worker protection programs, including enforcement
of safety and health regulations in the public sector, state labor laws
and federal statutes related to working conditions, wages and hours,
and laws related to Public Work. The Department of Labor serves as the
States principal source for labor market information and offers
a variety of services designed to help businesses find workers and people
find jobs.

- Vocational
and Educational Services for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID)
The Mission of the Office of Vocational and Educational Services
for Individuals with Disabilities (VESID) is to promote educational
equity and excellence for students with disabilities while ensuring
that they receive the rights and protection to which they are entitled;
assure appropriate continuity between the child and adult services systems;
and provide the highest quality vocational rehabilitation and independent
living services to all eligible persons as quickly as those services
are required to enable them to work and live independent, self-directed
lives.

Lawrence County Department of Social Services
The St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services provides temporary
assistance to eligible individuals and families to help them with their
basic needs until they can become self-sufficient. Toward that end,
we have employment programs and other supportive services such as day
care so that people can find and maintain employment. We also administer
programs which can assist people with their medical expenses and nutritional
needs. In addition, Children's Services helps families deal with problems
so they can stay together and, when necessary, provides foster care.
Child Protective Services investigates allegations of abuse and neglect.
Child Support assists in collecting financial support from legally responsible
relatives.

Lawrence County Office for the Aging
The St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging is one of 59 Area Agencies
on Aging in New York State. Targeted are those persons 60+ years old
with the greatest social and economic needs, especially low-income minorities.
The office strives to preserve the dignity, independence and security
of older people and their families. Non-medical, cost-effective home
and community based services are developed and coordinated so that older
citizens of the County may remain in their own homes and communities
for as long as possible and avoid costly institutionalization.

- Employment Program (SCSEP) Food
- Friendship Program (Nutrition) Transportation
